I was told to make a right at the first hallway, walk past the restrooms and elevator 3 will be on my left-hand side. I will have to take that elevator 3 down to the lower level and look for the sign that says auditorium which was on the right-hand side. This is where the class was held and the two doors leading i nto the auditorium were open as soon as I got out of the elevator and made a right. The signs are clearly labeled at this hospital, so guest do not get lost and the staff is extremely helpful in making sure everyone finds their way around the hospital. PIH also has free Wi-Fi which is easily connectable, has staff all around the hospital that is extremely helpful, and several places where individuals can get food and drinks. Accessibility. \PIH is an easily accessible hospital whether it be transportation, calling their phone line or finding their website. Before going to the class, I had looked up directions in traffic and without traffic to get an idea where the hospital was located. During this time, I found that there are many routes available via freeway or via side streets. I also noticed that there is public transportation available, but timing depends on where the individual is coming from. It can be stressful when phone lines are busy, or a person has to be on hold forever to get their question answered so I thought this was a great asset to the hospital company. Lastly, the hospital website is amazing, and it is accessible from anywhere. The layout is simple and easily readable. In addition, there are no glitches or ads that pop up while accessing the website which makes it easy to stay focused. Many times, websites are vague and do not provide details which leaves a person with no other choice but to call the hospital directly. PIH Hospital is fairly accessible to the public but can be hard to access during rush hour traffic because it is right next to the 605 freeway. This hospital is also in the middle of two major intersections, so commute would have to be planned accordingly. The volume was loud clear which projected to the back of the room so those sitting in the back were able to hear it clearly. The instructor also demonstrated in person some of the major topics that were being explained in the video such as car seat safety and CPR for conscious/unconscious infants or toddlers. The great thing about this class and its activit ies is that there is no registration or fees required, making it a wonderful place for anybody to learn. Program or Changes To Better Serve The Community Possible changes. The infant/toddler safety class was a very informative and interactive class to attend to help better prepare for the birth of a child. However, I feel that offering classes during the day would be a great way to spread the knowledge to expecting parents because many people may not be able to make it in the evening. There may be many underlying issues, but transportation may play a vital role in this. Public transportation is very difficult in the evening and due to the heavy traffic in Southern California, expecting parents would really be disturbed throughout the whole travel process. Another option could be providing online classes or links to videos that patients can watch to help educate themselves in case they are unable to attend these informational classes. This may also help in spreading the knowledge and education to more expecting parents because these videos and links would be accessible from any electronic device with internet. The Physics of Roller Coasters The roller coaster has its beginnings in Russia where during the 1600s. People crafted sleds out of wood and built hills made of ice blocks. The hills had sand at the bottom to help slow down the sleds so they would not crash when they reached the bottom of the hill.1 Over time, the roller coaster has become more complex. They now are taller, faster and are designed out of different materials like wood and steel. Although roller coasters are fun and exciting, the questions, what allows them to twist and turn, go up and down hills at a fairly good speed? Why do they not fall off of the track when it goes through a loop? The answer to these questions and others about roller coasters lies in the application†¦show more content†¦Then as the coaster begins its decent down the first hill, the energy is converted back into kinetic energy as the train is pulled toward the Earth by gravity. Gravity is the traditional source of power for roller coasters that accelerates the train as i t goes on its hilly, twisty journey.3 Gravity is a unit of acceleration, that is always present, that causes free-falling objects on Earth to change their speed at a rate of approximately 10 m/s (32ft/s) every second.1 So, as the train goes down the hills of the track it has a positive acceleration giving it the necessary potential energy to â€Å"climb† the next hill, make a turn, or travel through a loop. Also, as the train goes down the hills and loops, it experiences a free fall effect. This occurs when an object falls and is not inhibited by other objects2 (314-315). As the train goes down the hill, the coasters’ mass causes it to accelerate faster than the people in the car. During the free fall stages of the ride the train does not exert any pressure on the riders or the track causing the riders to feel momentarily weightlessness. Today the cities of yesteryear are gone and life as we knew it ended. However, people do not want it to end. They still want the American Dream; the house in the suburbs, the good job, the wife, car and 2.4 kids playing in the yard. These people have been the driving force in the division of socioeconomic status, and the division of race in the suburbs. They accomplish this through local governments and the decisions made through them. Though what has been created, by all of this over the years, isn't necessarily bad, but it has hurt the country in ways that we did not expect. When soldiers returned from the war they were greeted with open arms and a new booming economy. It was this booming economy, of service-oriented jobs, that allowed the middle class of people the opportunity to move away from their jobs and separate their work from their home. Also during that time we were still, as a country, practicing racial segregation, which is part of the reason for the racial inequalities in the suburbs today. These new communities, of mostly white nuclear families, were now in need of a council to make the decisions that needed to be made for their area. They didn't want the city to make these decisions for them since they were so far away. Also since most people worked in the city, they wanted to continue with the dream of keeping home and work separate. Therefore they banded together as neighborhoods and communities to make the decisions that affected that area on a daily basis. The benefit of this was that now they had almost total autonomy from the poor and the lower class they so quickly left behind in the city. This is where the socioeconomic division began. The people of the suburbs loved their lives. They lived around the people of the same socioeconomic status and were separated from their work. Time went on and the suburbs slowly became racially integrated, but only by the educated wealthy minorities. Life in the suburbs was good until we started to notice the decline in the life lead by the inner-city folk. We as the good, moral country that we are, decided we needed to do something about them. Which actually was a good idea on paper, but the reality of it, is that it didn't work out as we had hoped. The suburban councils/governments had created laws and other things that had reduced the amount of space that would be allowed for the renewal of the lower class and poor. The original settlers of the suburbs had done two things to keep their wonderful life-styles. The first thing that some areas did was to raise the housing prices of the area to the point that nobody else could afford to move in. They did this by building extravagant houses and spending their money on their schools. The second thing, often done in conjunction with the first, was to actually write into law that there shall be no low-income housing in that area. By doing this, the suburbs stayed safe and the feeling of community was saved for the time being. The pursuit of the American Dream is not a bad thing. It is actually a fundamental part of our economy. Capitalism is based on the fact that there will always be a caste system. But the rapid suburbanization, also known as white-flight, helped to create a greater disparity in the lives of the lower class and the lives of the upper class. In other words suburbs and their suburban councils have beaten the economic system and created one where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. There is no real way to rectify the situation at this time, so all we can do is wait for another economic change to help lift the poor. However, what we can do is help to prepare them by fixing their housing and educating them. The suburbs have always been a place of retreat for the wealthy, they will always be, and there is nothing we can do to change that. Though these cats would look very similar if they were clean and sitting next to each other, they would also be very different. Indoor cats are generally very clean, since they do not have to work for their food. The excess time allows them to clean and pamper themselves on a daily basis. The fact that they are usually fed on regular intervals makes an indoor cat overweight. The cats know that they can sleep all day and still get fed once or more times a day. Also, since the cats do not work for their food, they lose their exercise time. It makes it impossible for them to burn off any extra calories they may have gotten. This type of cat generally likes a lot of human contact, since humans are the ones who pamper and feed the cats. They are use to this contact, which makes them not scared of humans. For the most indoor cats, a person does not have to worry about getting a disease from them, since the cat probably is taken to the veterinarian on a regular basis. Outdoor cats usually are pretty scraggly looking. The fact that they have to work for all of their food causes them to get more dirty and does not allow them the time to clean themselves everyday. They are much skinnier and are in much better shape. These cats are awake all day long looking for food and avoiding the everyday obstacles of an outdoor cat. This allows them to get plenty of exercise, but not always enough food. Outdoor cats are not usually people friendly. They are not around humans, so that they do not depend on humans enough to be friendly with people. It is probably a good thing that these types of cats do not like a lot of human contact, since more outdoor cats unlike indoor cats have not had their shots. This does not insure that they are free from diseases, so a person does not know if this cat has a disease or not. An indoor-outdoor cat is a combination of the previous two types of cats. These cats are also generally clean looking cats that are semi-dependent on humans for their food.
